Combining Automation. Maximizing Flow.

SAHM Winding Solutions and Vandewiele Automation present integrated automation solution for winding processes 

For the first time at the Techtextil trade fair in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (21 - 26 April), SAHM Winding Solutions and Vandewiele Automation will be showcasing their combined automation expertise for industrial winding processes. Under the motto “Combining Automation. Maximizing Flow”, the two companies will demonstrate how automated package handling and robot-assisted yarn knotting can be integrated into a continuous production flow.

SAHM’s automated precision winding machines have a worldwide reputation as the industry standard for high-quality winding processes. They are used by technical yarn manufacturers across the full range of applications. At Techtextil 2026, SAHM will be focusing on the automation and connectivity of winding processes.

The company will be highlighting the SAHM CB1, its mobile handling system which manages automatic doffing, the supply of empty tubes to winders, as well as the transport and buffering of packages. With its integrated tube and package storage system and a freely programmable robotic arm, the CB1 system can be flexibly adapted to different production environments.

In a further automation step, Vandewiele Automation’s KR1 knotting station extends the automation of winding processes. The robot-assisted KR1 solution automatically knots yarn ends on the completed packages, preparing them for transport and downstream production steps. This reduces manual intervention while at the same time ensuring consistently high quality. The system is suitable for a wide range of yarns and package types.

Together, the two solutions demonstrate how winding processes can be increasingly automated and interconnected – with the goal of reducing manual intervention and enabling stable, continuous production flows.

Visitors to Techtextil 2026 will have the chance to see the technologies from SAHM Winding Solutions and Vandewiele Automation together in live operation – and to learn more about flexible automation concepts for winding.

A very special milestone for us: the 1,000th project of the SAHM 400 Series is finished! It’s a SAHM 411XE – the best-selling model in the series.

This anniversary unit is headed to a family-owned company in the United States that has grown with great dedication and hard work. The company already operates a SAHM 400 Series system with 27 winding heads and is now expanding its production capacity to a total of 36 winding positions with the new unit.

This achievement is the result of true teamwork – and we’re celebrating it together! Special thanks to SAHM-Converting Team and all our colleagues in Sales and Engineering who made this milestone possible. At the ITMA fair in Hanover in 1991 it was presented for the first time. And since then, thousands of heads have been delivered.
